A soft towel, a satin pillowcase and a comb

Wet hair is weaker

Wet hair stretches more easily. Rubbing on a pillow all night can cause tangles and breakage.

A damp scalp

A scalp that stays damp for hours, especially with thick or tied hair, can feel itchy or smell the next day. Read scalp odour.

Easy alternatives

Wash earlier in the evening, or dry with a dryer on medium before bed.

A smooth pillowcase

A satin or silk pillowcase can reduce friction. Tie long hair loosely or in a soft plait.
