1. Identify the pattern

Is it spread out, at the hairline, at the crown, or in patches? Sudden patches need a doctor. Read why hair falls out.

2. Think about the past few months

Illness, fever, childbirth, stress, a strict diet or a new medicine? See shedding after a fever and medicines and hair loss.

3. Check your care habits

Tight styles, heat, repeated colouring or rough combing of wet hair? Read shedding or breakage.

4. Start a record and get a view

Take monthly photos. See a doctor if there are warning signs, or book a free consultation for a scalp check.
