Why hair seems to shed more at certain times
Many people notice shedding changes from month to month. These everyday factors can affect it, and here is how to see the real pattern.

Daily shedding naturally varies
The number of hairs you shed is not the same every day. The day you wash after a few days off, for example, looks heavier because loose hairs have built up.
Routine and environment
A busy month, poor sleep, fasting, long travel or a change of weather can affect your care habits and scalp. Read about hot, humid weather.
Watch the trend, not one day
Use monthly photos to compare density. One bad day does not mean ongoing thinning.
When to act
If heavy shedding continues for several months or more scalp is showing, get it checked. Patchy loss should go to a doctor.

Is it normal to shed more after not washing for a few days?
Yes. Hairs that were already loose build up and come out together when you wash.
How do I know it is real thinning?
Compare photos in the same light over several months, or ask for a scalp check at the consultation.
