Pomade, wax and gel: what they do to a man's scalp
Styling products help your look, but leftover residue can affect scalp comfort. Here is how to use them wisely.

Residue builds up
Oil- and wax-based products can build up on the scalp if not washed out properly, especially in hot, sweaty weather.
Choose for your hair type
Thin hair usually suits light, matte products. Heavy products tend to clump hairs and show more scalp.
Wash properly
Wash your hair on days you use product. If it is hard to remove, shampoo gently a second time. Read how to shampoo properly.
Give your scalp a break
Go product-free at weekends or days at home. If your scalp is itchy or bumpy, see itchy scalp.

Does gel cause hair loss?
There is no strong evidence. The usual issues are residue, irritation and pulling when combing stiff hair.
Can I use styling products after treatment?
Follow the aftercare guidance and ask your consultant when it is fine to use them again.
