Dandruff and an itchy scalp: a short guide
What dandruff is, why it comes back and when to see a doctor.

What dandruff is
Dandruff is flakes of scalp skin that show in the hair and on your shoulders. It is common and often linked to an oily scalp and changes in the weather.
Why it comes back
Oil, sweat, hair products that are not fully rinsed out and stress can all bring it back.
Home care
Wash regularly with a suitable shampoo, rinse well and try not to scratch. Let your hair dry before putting on a tudung.
When to see a doctor
If the scalp is very red, weeping, painful, or the flaking does not improve with normal care, see a doctor. We will also postpone cosmetic treatment until the scalp settles.
