Why after childbirth?

During pregnancy many women notice their hair feels thicker. After birth, hormonal change pushes many strands into the shedding phase at around the same time, usually a few months later.

How long it lasts

For most mothers it eases over a few months. Broken sleep, stress and diet during confinement can all affect it.

What helps

A balanced diet with enough protein and iron, gentle washing and avoiding very tight ties. If shedding is very heavy or goes on, see a doctor for a check.

When cosmetic treatment fits

If you are still breastfeeding, tell your consultant. We will adjust the plan or suggest you wait.
