Tight hairstyles and a thinning hairline
A tight daily bun under the tudung or a high ponytail can pull on hair constantly. Here is how to ease the habit.

What happens when hair is pulled
Constant pulling on the same area, especially the temples and front hairline, can make hair there break and thin over time.
Signs to watch for
Soreness or throbbing when you undo your hair, small bumps along the hairline or temples that look sparser are signs your style may be too tight.
Change the habit gradually
Use fabric scrunchies or metal-free ties, move the position of your bun, and wear hair loose at home. If you wear a tudung, choose an underscarf that does not press.
If the hairline is already thin
Stop pulling on that area first. If you want it to look fuller, talk to a consultant at the free consultation. An inflamed area should be seen by a doctor.

Can a loose bun still cause problems?
A loose tie and changing its position put less strain on the same spot.
Can I sleep with my hair tied?
If you need to, tie it loosely with a soft scrunchie. Better still, leave it loose or in a loose plait.
